Local Sports Recap – August 22, 2023

The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog Volleyball team defeated Mt. Carmel last night in two sets, 25-15 and 25-16. The Lady Bulldogs came out firing on all cylinders, dominating in all aspects to start the season 1-0.

The Lady Bulldogs will have a quick turnaround, as they travel to Edwards County tonight.

Volleyball seems to be the only sport in action this week as the IHSA and SIJHSAA have canceled all outdoor sporting events up until Friday night due to the current heat wave.

The junior high baseball and softball teams, as well as the CWCHS golf teams were supposed to play yesterday afternoon, but those were canceled as well as the rest of the matches and games for this week.

The Carmi-White County Bulldog football team however, is bearing with the elements early in the morning. The Bulldogs will be practicing at 6 am this week to prepare for their Week 1 opponent, the Flora Wolves.

As of now, kickoff for Friday’s game is still set for 7 PM, and fans will be able to listen and watch from their air conditioned homes as 97.3 FM WRUL and the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel will be broadcasting live from Flora.
