Jefferson County Illinois Man Arrested in Carmi Sunday

A Jefferson County man is due in court after White County Sheriff’s authorities were called to break up an active dispute.  According to the report, law officers were called to a West Sycamore home in Carmi Sunday at about a quarter till 8pm.  Dispatch alerted the caller said her ex, 26 year old Michael Dent of Mt. Vernon, IL tried to drag a white female out of a vehicle.  The woman declined to sign a complaint, however a check of active warrants revealed Dent was wanted on a 2024 White County warrant related to a Domestic Violence charge.  He was subsequently taken into custody and then released under the Pre-Trial Fairness Act.

The domestic laws are being tabled to wear a ankle bracelet if they go near the victim or place of employment. It may help detour some it needs to include a red alert for immediate responses. The one issue I have is the catch release is supposed to be determined by the judges or prosecuter on threat level 🤔 pretty certain a prior qualifies yet obviously was neglected. Place a ethical review may not evolve into anything but it will certainly make it very uncomfortable for them. I am fairly certain if it was a question of safety risk to them the outcome would be quite different.
