ISP to Begin Patrolling Regions of Illinois Under COVID-19 Restrictions for Violations

The Illinois State Police are going to be actively patrolling the regions of the state under COVID-19 restrictions looking for violations. Gov. J.B. Pritzker said Wednesday afternoon that ISP would focus on finding businesses that disobeyed the state mandates, first offering “guidance” and then fines.

I’d like to see our police force put to better use. Like keeping our communities safe from criminal elements instead of becoming Viral Watchdogs for our Dictator of a Governor! And then they have the nerve to call you begging for cash for their charity because they are sooo under funded.

Fines are already being thrown out of courts that have been issued to “violaters” because the governor no longer has any authority beyond the first 30 day emergency period! So if you own a business, then you do whatever is best for your business. If you are fined, take the citation & say…”I will see you in court!” I 100% respect our police officers & the ISP should not be made to participate in this farce of an operation from a governor giving unconstitutional orders!

The law establishing the state police does not grant the state police the power enforcing civil violations, which health department codes are, so even if it was a legal mandate, which they are not, the state police have no authority in the law to enforce. Any trooper writing such a violation is outside his scope of authority and no longer protected by the state for their actions. 20 ILCS 2610/16) (from Ch. 121, par. 307.16 No person employed under this Act, however, shall serve or execute civil process, except for process issued under the authority of the General Assembly, or a committee or commission thereof vested with subpoena powers when the county sheriff refuses or fails to serve such process, and except for process issued under the authority of the Illinois Department of Revenue.

I strongly support Law Enforcement, but this is an abuse of authority by the Executive. Any confrontation that comes of this is solely the fault of that Executive authority and and he should be rightfully held accountable for such act of abuse

People and business forget that the Governor was elected to better the entire state. Some people think this is personal to them (small thinkers) when he is trying to limit the exposure of this virus that has over 220,000 dead and counting. With all the medical experts using science saying their is a second wave coming. He is protecting all of 🇺🇸.

Mitigation of COVID is very important. If people think their rights are being infringed upon too bad. How many more lives are we going to lose because of selfishness and stupidity!

How about some patrol on interstate 57 between Johnston city and Ina to reduce the extraordinary number of accidents and deaths there. Never see you there
