Grant and Grow Workshop meant to Empower Southeastern Illinois Nonprofits

he Southern Illinois Community Foundation, in conjunction with the Carmi Chamber of Commerce and Southeastern Illinois College will present “Grant and Grow, A Workshop for White County Nonprofits” on Friday, August 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the SIC White County Center in Carmi.

The workshop is designed for nonprofit staff, board members, volunteers and community leaders from across the region, including White, Gallatin, Pope, Hardin and Saline counties. Participants will receive practical guidance on nonprofit operations, fundraising, marketing and community engagement, along with handouts and takeaways they can use after the event.

Workshop speakers will include Dr. Tammy Gwaltney, who will engage participants in a discussion about grant research, writing and reporting. Rachel Gartner will relay the exciting new details of one of the largest fundraisers in southern Illinois, the GiveSI Community Day of Giving and how nonprofits can enroll. She’ll also work with nonprofits on building a marketing strategy, which includes tips on how to strengthen their connections in the community. Expert in social media, Ashley Watson, will share important tools that nonprofits can utilize to build their brand and increase their digital footprint. Finally, SICF CEO, Byram Fager, will give practical insight about nonprofits, their role in the community and how to build support to increase longevity.

“This workshop is an opportunity for nonprofits throughout southeastern Illinois to connect with resources, strengthen their organizations and learn practical tools they can put to work in their communities,” said Gwaltney, SICF’s Director of Development.

Lunch will be provided for registered participants.
