A Hamilton County man is headed to prison after taking a plea deal in court. Hamilton County States Attorney Justin Hood says 44-year-old Harland “J.R.” Hammond will spend the next 6 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on a Class 2 felony of Unlawful Use of Property charge related to methamphetamine. A Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a wrecked vehicle driven by Hammond back on June 27th. He was arrested at that time and is currently behind bars in the White County Jail. Harland is also subject to a fine. The Possession of Meth charge as well as Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Improper Lane Usage charges were dropped as per the plea agreement.
