Halloween Campout Friday and Saturday at Burrell’s Woods in Carmi

With Corn Days in the rearview mirror, attention is turning to Halloween and Carmi will open Burrells Woods to a Halloween campout beginning this Friday.  The day begins on Friday morning with the dedication for the new Learning Trail located there.  Vibracoustic, who provided the grant money, will have representation at the event beginning at 10:30am.
Later in the evening, the city has arranged to show an outdoor movie, “Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman”.  You’re encouraged to bring a chair and/or a blanket.  Popcorn and drinks will be provided.
Coming up Saturday, City Clerk Cynthia Attebury lays out the schedule of events for us.
“They’re going to do some…The smaller kids are going to do coloring and the larger kids are going to do carving of the pumpkins. We’re going to have marshmallow golf, a mummy wrap contest, and a donut eating contest. Then at 4 o’clock we’ll have the kids parade as well as the pet Halloween parade. And then at 4:30 there will be trick-or-treating in the campground and at 5:30 we’ll have a hayride ending with a weiner roast at the Gregory Dillman Memorial right as you come in. All of these events are open to the public.”
