Grayville Looking for Volunteers to Ready Swimming Pool; More from April 28 Council Meeting

With no executive session Monday night, Grayville Commissioners breezed through a twenty minute gathering.  The city is sitting on assets totaling about $3.5 million.

This Saturday, City Treasurer Sharon Walden says she’s welcoming volunteers as the city works to get the swimming pool ready for the season.

We will be working on the swimming pool; painting the outside.  We have four kids that were lifeguards last year helping.  We’ll take any kind of volunteer help from the community.  Even if you don’t want to paint, bring something to drink and a snack.  We’ll start at 8am; hope to see some people up there.  I do have some waivers you have to sign to volunteer for the city.  I will have them with me or you can come into city hall to sign.  We’re painting everything blue.

The city also received an engineering report from Rex Gower.  He says the watermain replacement project is complete.  Old mains have been capped and removed from service.  He’s also anticipating a change order due to some cheaper line stops were able to be used instead of insertion valves.  That change order should result in some savings.  Beyond that, Gower also says the Albion/Grayville Water Treatment Plant construction permit was issued by the Illinois EPA on March 31st.  The wastewater treatment plant grant application is also imminent.

In regular business, leaders approved parade resolutions for both the Memorial Day parade and the Grayville Days parade.  They also approved a renewal through Shepherd Insurance for Gas Liability.  Commissioners signed off on a special event liquor license for the Grayville Moose for June 14th to coincide with the Hog Roast and also approved the street closure request for the Hog Roast.

Meeting dates and times were set for the coming 12 months.  All will be held on the second and fourth Monday of each month except for May when the fourth Monday falls on Memorial Day pushing the meeting to the next day.  Meeting times will remain at 7pm.

The Library Board members and officers were ratified by the council Monday night. Officers include Andy Brock as President, Marionette Blood as VP, Dale Mosberger as Secretary, Kate Clark as Treasurer, and Linda Bova as FOIA/OMA Officer.  They’re joined by board members Kayla DeStefano, Lana Pierson, Miranda Morris, and Scott Browning.

Finally, with the work complete or nearing completion, leaders approved pay orders for the watermain replacement.
