CWC Unit 5 Board Meeting Monday Night (10/16) Agenda Set to Contend with Personnel, Discipline and Potential Raises

The Carmi White County School Board will convene Monday with a full agenda following a special meeting at 6:30 in which the board will consider disciplinary action against a student.  Included in the regular meeting itinerary, the board will hear a FMLA request from Alex Aud to begin in mid-December.  Superintendent Lee is expected to brief board members on the Extracurricular Athletic Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy adopted in 2003 to gauge interest in expanding the policy to include high school students who participate in co-curricular activities.

The district doesn’t currently have a policy to formally evaluate individual coaches of athletic teams.  The board will be asked to discuss whether or not to pursue adopting assessments and if so, when to begin the process.

In financial considerations, the board is also expected to accept a donation in the amount of $400 for Brownsville School’s various programs.  Following Superintendent Lee’s report, Ryan Hawkins of Kemper CPA will present the district’s annual audit for fiscal year 17.  Lee is also providing the board with a summary of fiscal year 18 program grants for the district.  State and federal totals are expected to total $1,113,438.  That’s down almost $29,000 from fiscal year 17.

After a closed session to discuss personnel, the board is expected to potentially act on the employment of the following:

Custodian for Washington Attendance Center

5th Grade Boys Basketball Coach

5th Grade Girls Basketball Coach

7th Grade Girls Basketball Coach

The final items on the agenda include salaries and compensation.  Item F calls for the consideration and possible action of increasing salaries of support staff not in the union while item G will focus on increasing administrator compensation.  The September 2017 payroll for the district was $667,295.12.
