Carmi Rotary Chili Supper Tonight

Carmi Rotary Plans Chili Supper

The Carmi Rotary club met on the cold snowy Thursday to discuss two upcoming events. First up will be the annual chili supper. This year’s version will take place on Friday, November 16th at the Lion’s Den in Carmi. Serving will begin at 5:00pm and the night will close at 7:00pm. Tickets are only seven dollars and can be purchased from any Carmi Rotarian or at the door. You are encouraged to come hungry, because there will be plenty of sides to go with the chili as well as lots of homemade desserts.

The Carmi Rotary club also discussed the upcoming Salvation Army bell ringing commitment. By virtue of winning last year’s challenge, the Rotarians were able to pick the day they wanted to ring, and as in year’s past, the club picked “Black Friday”, the day after Thanksgiving. Rotarians will be on hand in front of Walmart the entire day, and are urging shoppers to give happily to this wonderful cause.

Lynn Stephens won the 50/50 drawing (even though she wasn’t there), and even managed to take home the large cash prize that had been building for several months.

JR Hubele was named the day’s phantom.

The Carmi Rotary club meets every Thursday at noon at the First United Methodist Church on Main Street in Carmi. Anyone wishing to learn more about this civic organization is welcome to attend a meeting or speak with any Carmi Rotarian.
