The Carmi Police Department received a report on Friday that someone had damaged the marble bench on the north side of the Carmi Public Library. The caller reported that the damage had occurred sometime last week.
Saturday afternoon, Carmi officers arrested 25 year old Misty McFarland of El Paso on a White County warrant for failure to appear. McFarland was taken into custody at a residence on Shipley Street at 12:54 pm and transported to the White County Jail, where she is being held in lieu of a $500 bond.
33 year old Serena Short of Carmi was arrested Saturday night by Carmi Police after it was reported that she struck a railroad crossing arm at the 3rd Street intersection and did not report the damage. A conductor with Evansville Western Railroad reported the damage, and Short was charged with failure to give information following an accident. Short was taken into custody at 11:31 pm and taken to the White County Jail, and was released after posting a $150 bond.
