Carmi Police were called to break up what’s described as “a large fight” Wednesday morning. Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Sycamore just after 11am in response to a report of a fight in progress with an alleged large number of combatants. 20 year old Kane Highwood, who resides at a Summit Street apartment, was taken into custody and is being charged with domestic battery. Highwood allegedly struck an 18 year old female with a metal object and a purse. Highwood was arrested and taken to the White County Jail where he remains behind bars awaiting a bond amount set by a judge. Online records indicate he’ll have a bail review on Monday in front of Judge Webb with formal arraignment set for June 3rd. No word on the condition of the 18 year old female.
