Wednesday night, Carmi Police responded to a 911 call about an auto accident at Church and State Streets. Officers arrived on the scene at 6:48 pm and found a 2010 Chevrolet pickup had left the east side of the road and had travelled about 100 yards down the ditch embankment before becoming wedged between two trees.
The two occupants of the truck were soon located, and the driver, 38 year old Kandi R Strean of Galatia was taken into custody on charges of driving while license revoked, illegal transportation of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.
Strean was transported to Hamilton Memorial Hospital by the White County Ambulance Service. The vehicle was removed from the scene by Cherry Street Towing.
