A Carmi man is being seen by a judge today after spending the weekend behind bars on a list of charges. Carmi Police say they pulled over 37-year-old John Smith of 8th Street about 20 minutes shy of midnight Friday. Once pulled over, Smith was arrested and booked on felony charges of Possession of Meth, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Use of Property, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon. In addition, Smith was charged with three misdemeanors: Driving While License Suspended/Revoked, Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Smith was also given a citation for Operation of Motor Vehicle with Suspended Registration due to Mandatory Insurance.
