At 2:36 am Saturday morning, Carmi Police responded to an alarm at the CVS pharmacy. Dispatch advised responding officers of broken glass on the entrance door, and multiple motion sensors inside the building. Officers secured both the front and rear entrances and then waited for a key holder to arrive to enter the building.
Once inside the pharmacy, officers, the Carmi K9 unit, and White County Sheriff’s deputies announced their presence. 25 year old Kyle Buchanan of Carmi complied with orders by officers and was taken into custody. In his pocket, officers found two pill bottles that contained Schedule 4 medications.
Buchanan was charged with burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and criminal damage to property. He is being held at the White County Jail without bond pending a court hearing.
