The Carmi City Council met Tuesday night for the first time in 2018. The Council unanimously approved an ordinance prohibiting sexual harassment. Mayor Jeff Pollard and City Clerk Cynthia Attebury explained that this new ordinance was drafted by the Illinois General Assembly and each municipality is being asked to pass the new ordinance.
The Council also unanimously approved the letting of bids for farming the land at the airport on a cash rent basis. The bid will be for two years with a renewal option and will contain actual acreage amounts and airport based restrictions.
Mayor Pollard reminded residents about the electronic recycling event coming this Saturday.
The meeting adjourned at 5:40 pm and the Carmi City Council will meet again on Tuesday, January 16th at 5:30.
