Busy Day for Local Police

 

Monday was a busy day for Carmi police as they made three arrests beginning at 8 in the morning and running through about 5:15 Monday afternoon.

 

Amanda M. Mercer, 34, 709 Shipley Street, Carmi, was arrested after she was stopped by local authorities, who knew she was driving on a suspended license. Mercer was also charged with possession of methamphetamine, unlawful use of property and possession of a hypodermic syringe after a quarter gram of meth and the syringe were found in her purse.

Mercer remained in custody following her arrest.

 

Monday afternoon around 3:45, Carmi police arrested Kelly R. Jones of Marion, Ill. Jones turned herself in on a White County warrant. She posted $150 cash bond and a $20 booking fee prior to being released from custody.

 

At about a quarter after Five, local police arrested Kort James Kays, 42 of 208 Kerney St., Carmi on a Wabash County warrant for failure to appear. Kays was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a stolen firearm.

James remained in custody according to the incident report released by Carmi Chief of Police Jason Carter.
