Bicentennial Celebration; Fireworks to highlight Independence Day Festivities in Carmi

The Independence Day holiday will bring much activity to Carmi. The City of Carmi is hosting a Bicentennial Celebration at Burrell’s Woods on July 4th. Food vendors will be available beginning around 1pm. At 4pm, The Bradshaw’s will perform. At 5:30pm A Band Called River will perform, featuring the talent of Carmi native Barry Steed. Those wishing to attend the celebration should follow the signs to enter the new addition to Burrell’s Woods.

Also available during the celebration will be t-shirts that are being sold to help raise money for an amphitheater at Burrell’s Woods. Bicentennial bracelets will also be available for $5.

The Carmi Chamber of Commerce is once again partnering with the City of Carmi and area businesses and individuals for the annual fireworks show which will begin at 9 pm at the White County Fairgrounds. Once again, synchronized patriotic music will be broadcast on WRUL. The Chamber is also accepting donations toward the $12,000 display. Those wishing to contribute should mail a check to the Carmi Chamber of Commerce, 225 E Main Street, Carmi, IL 62821.

Carmi Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Holly Healy noted, “Carmi has several wonderful opportunities to enjoy the Independence Day holiday. The Chamber of Commerce urges you to take advantage of the opportunities right here at home.”
