Wanda Sue (Allbright) Steingruby, 71, of Mt. Vernon, IN, died on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at her home. She was born July 27, 1952 in East St. Louis, IL, the daughter of Henry Horn Allbright and Ruby Ruth (Mick) Allbright. Wanda married Robert Francis Steingruby in 1971, and he preceded her in death on February 19, 1979. Wanda graduated from Valmeyer High School in Valmeyer, IL. She had worked at Canterbury Manor in Waterloo, IL and Golf Links Christian Academy and Day Care in Tucson, AZ. Wanda enjoyed playing rummy and bingo, going to see Christmas light displays including Ritzy's Fantasy of Lights, spending time with her family, and especially spoiling her dog Trixie. Wanda is survived by her son, Francis Robert Steingruby (fiancéé Trish Wheeler) of Mt. Vernon, IN; two brothers, Henry Wayne (Wendy) Allbright of Cottage Grove, WI and Jeffrey Allen (Joyce) Allbright of Carmi, IL; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Terry Lee Allbright and Steven Douglas Allbright. Funeral services for Wanda Sue (Allbright) Steingruby will be held Monday, August 14, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Stendeback Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial to follow in North Maple Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, from 11:00 until service time at noon. Donations in Memory of Wanda Sue (Allbright) Steingruby can be made to Heart to Heart Hospice and will be accepted at Stendeback Funeral Home.
