1955 - 2025
Eddie Ray Ellison, 69, passed away on April 25, 2025 at home in Carmi. Eddie was born on November 28, 1955 in Mcleansboro, IL the son of Clarence Edward and Oma (Crayne) Ellison; Eddie was retired having worked in construction as a home builder. He was a 1973 Graduate of Carmi High School. Eddie loved being outdoors, enjoyed hiking in the Shawnee National Forrest and taking in the beauty at the Garden of the Gods. He delighted in being in nature and was fond of camping and hunting. In keeping with his love of nature, he was a member of Greenpeace and the Sierra Club
Survivors include, his daughters, Tessa (James King) Turnipseed and Ayla (Tim Chezem) Ellison; grandchildren Lennon and Jude Turnipseed and Theodore and Matilda Chezem; and a sister, Beverly Garrett.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Delores Hurt.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Roberts and Cook Funeral Service.
