41-year-old Joseph Stoneberger of Grayville is headed to the Department of Corrections after a White County court appearance Wednesday. He was arrested in late January and charged with Stalking, Electronic Harassment, and Disorderly Conduct. On Wednesday, Stoneberger formally agreed to a plea deal which will see him sentenced to up to 2 years behind bars on the Stalking charge with the other allegations dismissed as per the plea. Stoneberger will also have 4 years of Mandatory Supervised Release once he gets out, is responsible for court costs, and was credited for 103 days of time served.
Also Wednesday in White County court, 48-year-old Gretchen Cruse was granted first offender leniency in her case. The Carmi woman was arrested on April 8th at Wal-Mart.

Online court records show a plea deal which saw her take punishment on the possession of a controlled substance charge with the remaining counts dismissed. That punishment includes 2 years of probation for the first time offender, 30 hours of community service, $500 in fines, $43.30 in restitution to the retailer, and drug treatment. She also has a 6-month stayed jail sentence contingency.
36-year-old Tiffany Downs pled out in White County court Wednesday while in custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections. Downs pled guilty on Wednesday to the Assault charge and received 2 years of conditional discharge while the Domestic Battery charge was dismissed.
20-year-old Atleigh Groff of Carmi benefitted from being a first time offender Wednesday. Court records indicate she took a plea deal which saw her plead guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance while two misdemeanor charges and a citation were dismissed as per the deal. She received 2 years of probation, a $500 fine, 30 hours of public service work, and she also has a 6-month stayed jail sentence that could take affect if probation is violated during the term.
44-year-old Crystal Boaz was sentenced to 3 years in the Department of Corrections Wednesday following a plea agreement. Boaz was charged in January with being a Felon- Failure to return from Furlough. That mistake will send her to spend time behind bars and give her 6 months of Mandatory Supervised Release once she gets out. She was credited with 84 days of time served.
