A Carmi woman is behind bars following her arrest Wednesday afternoon on a Theft charge and more. It was just before 2:30pm when officers say they were called to Wal-Mart for a theft complaint with the suspect still on scene. During the search of 48-year-old Gretchen Cruse, officers say they found illicit drugs on her person and a firearm. She’s facing misdemeanor charges of Theft and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia along with felony counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and also Armed Violence. She was booked into the White County Jail and lodged there until she’s seen by a judge.
