Downs Arrested on Charges of Domestic Battery and Assault Wednesday Evening

A Grayville woman is behind bars after a court appearance Thursday following her arrest Wednesday evening.  Grayville Police were dispatched to an Oxford Street residence just before 6:30pm in reference to an active domestic situation.  On arrival, an officer says contact was made with a juvenile victim who showed her arms with visible marks and a second juvenile witness who provided scissors that were allegedly used.  Officers then spoke with the alleged aggressor, 36-year-old Tiffany Downs who law enforcement describe in the report as appearing to be intoxicated and repeating “take me to jail”.  The juvenile was turned over to her legal guardians and Downs was arrested on charges of Domestic Battery and Assault.  She was in court for a first appearance Thursday morning and while court documents suggest she was to be released, Grayville Police say Downs was on parole and a no bond warrant was issued keeping her jailed.  Downs is due back for a preliminary hearing in the case on May 13th.
