Two men are headed to prison after sentencing

Two men are headed to prison after sentencing in White County Court on Monday.

37 year old Kevin Yokel of Bellmont was charged with a Class 4 Felony for Driving While License Revoked. He was sentenced to two years in the Department of Corrections.

36 year old Robert Steven of Carmi was charged with a Class 4 Felony for Retail Theft. He was sentenced to 4 years in the Department of Corrections.

Both McGill and Yokel were represented by Public Defender Brian Shinkle. State’s Attorney Denton Aud represented the State in both cases. Judge T. Scott Webb was the sentencing judge in both matters. Yokel’s case was decided by way of a plea agreement that was accepted by the court. McGill was sentenced by Judge Webb at the conclusion of a sentencing hearing following arguments as to sentencing alternatives. McGill’s case was investigated by the Carmi Police Department. Yokel was arrested by the White County Sheriff’s Department.
