Township Road Restrictions Lifted
Carmi Township Road Commissioner Chris McEwing announced this week that road restrictions on the Carmi Township roads would be lifted effective Monday morning, April 1.
The roads have been restricted by weight limits since the first of the year. This is done annually in an effort to protect the rural roads, many of which are not in the best of shape, due to freezing and thawing over the winter.
All of the townships normally lift the restrictions by April 15, but many will be lifting the weight limits now that better weather has arrived and the chance of any hard freezing and thawing have been reduced.
