On Thursday, the Carmi Rotary club held the first official meeting with the new slate of officers for 2016. New president JR Hubele and Vice-President Dwain Harrelson presided over a short meeting with the focus on club business.
Before the business, came a summer lunch of cheeseburgers and fries, then cake and ice cream to celebrate Cindy Conley’s birthday.
The club discussed an upcoming Rotary district training event, and went on to discuss the need for more membership. In the coming weeks the club will be putting forth an effort to recruit some new Rotarians to keep this valuable civic organization alive and well in the Carmi area.
The members voted to make up the rained out Otter’s game on August 4th. As in the past, anyone wishing a long term weather forecast can rest assured it WILL rain on August 4th.
The Carmi Rotary club meets every Thursday at noon at the First United Methodist Church in Carmi. Anyone wishing to learn more about this worldwide civic club is more than welcome to attend a meeting or speak with any Carmi Rotarian.
