Rotary busy making plans for November events

At Thursday’s meeting of the Carmi Rotary club, the members were busy making plans for two upcoming events.

On Saturday, November 5th, the club will host their very popular Fall Trivia contest. This year’s event, as in year’s past, will be held at the American Legion building on Oak Street. The first question will be asked at 6:00pm and the night should wrap up around 8:00.

Teams need to be made up of four members, and can come from businesses, church groups, families, friends, coworkers, etc. The cost per team is forty dollars.

The event consists of four rounds of ten questions each. The questions are pulled from such categories as: history, science, geography, the Bible, food, sports, and pop culture.

Prizes are awarded to the top three teams. Registration can be done in advance through any Carmi Rotarian, or at the door the night of the contest. The Rotarians urge anyone who loves trivia to make plans to be on hand for this fun and fast paced night.

The club also discussed hosting a chili supper later in the month of November. This was a very successful night last year, and the members were interested in repeating the event this year. A firm date and time will be announced within the next few weeks.

In club business, Kent Armstrong won the 50/50 drawing but did not claim the day’s jackpot, which means the cash pot grows even larger for next week. Morris McCall was named as the day’s phantom.

The Carmi Rotary club meets every Thursday at noon at the First United Methodist Church in Carmi. Anyone wishing to learn more about this worldwide civic club is more than welcome to attend a meeting or speak with any Carmi Rotarian.
