The Kiwanis Club of Carmi is now under new leadership. Eric Rahlfs took the helm Thursday as the new President for the 2019/2020 Carmi Kiwanis campaign. Rahlfs credited past President Katelyne Wolff for “an amazing job” and says she deserves recognition for the time and effort she put into the civic organization.
Additionally, Rahlfs said he was dedicating his year at the gavel in memory of the man who introduced him to the club and eventually sponsored his membership, Jack Martin. Rahlfs says he’s honored, humbled, and excited to lead the organization. He went so far as to give a campaign slogan for the year ahead in “Let’s Make Jack Proud”.
New officers and board members were officially installed at yesterday’s Kiwanis meeting. Rahlfs is joined on the executive committee of officers by Justin Dartt, Caitlin Keepes, and Larissa Hays, along with Wolff who will serve as Past President this year and subsequently be in charge of the annual Pancake Day fundraiser. The board is made up of Kati Sturgal, Greg Grant, Greg Stewart, Doug Hays, Amy McCarty, Andrea Hays, Luke Sailer, Steve Winkleman, Matt Lamont, and Lawrence Martin.
They were joined at the meeting by 2nd Grader 1st Quarter Most Valuable Bulldogs including Gwendolyn H., Georgia C., Jace G., and Gaven B. They were chosen and recognized for working hard, being kind to others and using great manners, according to Dr. Amy Dixon.
