Power Outage Affects West Carmi

Power Outage

A portion of the City of Carmi, near the Wal-mart area was without power for several hours Monday.

The outage followed an accident at Viber Acoustics that apparently took out a utility pole. The outrage occurred before 9 Monday morning, causing a brief power disruption for most of the city at that time. However city crews were quick to respond to the situation and power was restored in a timely manner to most of the city.

However the damage caused the need to set another pole, which took several hours to complete.

City officials apologized for the inconvenience.

Shoppers to Wal-mart and other businesses in that area including Little Giant were without power for some time, causing the stores to have to turn away customers during the outage.
