Pavement Overlay to Begin on U.S. 41 in Evansville

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a shift from patching and repair operations to paving on U.S. 41 in Evansville.

Beginning on or around Tuesday, Sept. 6, contractors will begin paving operations on U.S. 41 on the south end of the project limits near I-69. During that time, traffic will be brought down to one lane in some areas. Lane closures will begin with the left lane on either side and then switch at a later date. Loads over 12 feet will need to use an alternate route.

During the closures, to avoid further inconvenience and enhance safety, motorists should leave extra time to get to their destinations, slow down in the work zones and minimize distractions while driving.

Work began in June to resurface U.S. 41 from I-69 to Virginia Street. The project includes repairs to the sub-structure of the road, milling and repaving. Work is expected to last until the end of October, depending upon weather conditions. Restrictions will be in place around the clock. INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.
