Norris City Not Ready to Sign Dispatch Contract

Norris City Not Ready to Sign County Dispatch Contract

Upon the recommendation of city attorney Rhonda Blades, the board won’t sign the non-emergency dispatch service contract with the county until changes in some of the wording of the agreement are made.

The trickler filter system at the sanitary plant will start up today. The village is working with their insurance for an adjustment to final payout.

The board agreed to a six-month trial period to use Verizon Connect on all police and maintenance vehicles. The system tracks the location of vehicles, keeps a history of all work done on them and can alert them if a vehicle is being stolen. It will cost about $200 a month and no contract is required.

Mayor Roy Kissell again reminded everyone that solicitors must register at the village hall.

A donation of $200 was made to the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics being held at Rend Lake on March 2nd, the same amount as last year.

Board members were reminded that they are invited to the White County CEO banquet at the Flora Hall at the White County Fairgrounds in Carmi on Saturday, February 9th.

In the police report for January, there were ten reports written, one arrest made, two citations issued and three 9-1-1 calls. There will be a status hearing on February 25th for the property at 506 North Division Street owned by Erica Roberts.

In the animal control report, a ticket was issued to the owner of a barking dog after several complaints by neighbors.

The meeting adjourned at 7:38 PM.

The next meeting of the Norris City Village Board will be Monday, March 4th at 7 PM.
