The National Weather Service’s Chris Noles says Monday’s storm, which may actually begin tonight could be huge across the region. Up to a foot of snow, maybe even more in isolated areas is expected and there’s a word for what Noles expects it to be like over the next 24+ hours…

He says the probability of the area getting around 8 inches is highly likely. He says earlier Sunday, the Weather Prediction Center said the chances of a foot or more were 0%. Around 3pm Sunday however, they updated that probability.
The southwest area of the NWS Paducah’s coverage zone which includes the likes of Poplar Bluff, Missouri should start to see snow between 6p – 9p tonight. Our region will start to see snow showers between 9 and midnight and it’s expected to just keep snowing into Monday evening.
If the piled high snow wasn’t enough, potentially the bigger concern to go along with that, Noles says, is the temperatures.

At it’s worst, Noles says it’s possible we’ll add an inch of snow per hour.
