National Skilled Nursing Care Week
Next week, May 13 to the 17th is National Skilled Nursing Care Week and Wabash Christian Village, here in Carmi, plans to observe the week in a big way.
There will be special activities each day and the public is invited to join in the festivities. The theme for this year is “Live Soulfully.” The week celebrates skilled nursing centers, their residents and staff by showcasing how they achieve “happy, healthy souls.”
Monday will be Our Hearts and Soul Day. The day will kick off with a mayoral proclamation at 9 that morning with musical entertainment to be provided by Ashton Cowling. At ten, there will be a resident photo guessing game to be followed by family bingo. Monday afternoon, at 2, there will be a friends and family get together.
Tuesday is Feed My Soul Day. The day includes thanks and gift making activities along with the Joyful Kids singing at 10. At 2 Tuesday afternoon there will be carriage rides and a petting zoo.
It is Well with My Soul Day will be observed Wednesday. The day will open with prayer and meditation at 9 complete with musical therapy. At ten there will be a spa day featuring spa treatments. That afternoon at 2, the Peyton Sisters will perform.
Thursday is Bless our Soul day. Christian arts and crafts will get underway at 9. Gospel games with staff and residents will be held at 10. There will be a chapel service at 2 with the Legacy Project presentation set for 3:15 Thursday afternoon.
Friday wraps up the week’s special events with the History of Soul at 9, Southern Soul Bingo at 10, a Soul Party at 2 and a Soul Train dance at 4.
