On 04/12/2016 at approximately 1347 hours, Mt. Carmel Police responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of 3rd Street and Chestnut Street. Upon arrival, MCPD Officer’s were told that a 1994 Ford Mustang was traveling W/B on 3rd when it was struck by a 2010 Chevrolet that was traveling N/B on Chestnut Street. The driver of the Ford was identified as Chris M. Rafferty of Mt. Carmel while the driver of the Chevrolet was identified as Cleo W. Ulm of Mt. Carmel. Ulm was issued a citation for failure to yield at an intersection. Both vehicle’s had to be towed from the scene. Rafferty was transported to the Wabash General Hospital for treatment.
The following subject was arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
On 04/11/2016, Mt. Carmel Police arrested John Kent Kirkman, age 59, of Mt. Carmel after he dropped a small amount of suspected cannabis on the floor at a local gas station. MCPD Officer’s reviewed the surveillance camera and saw the suspected cannabis come from Kirkman’s person. Police located Kirkman at the VFW and placed him under arrest. Kirkman was transported to the Wabash County Jail and held pending the posting of bond.
