On 10/17/2017, the Mt. Carmel Police Department arrested 62 year old Rebecca J. Hammond of Mt. Carmel. Police arrested Hammond at her home on Mulberry Street after obtaining an arrest warrant charging her with 2 counts of criminal drug conspiracy. Hammond is part of an ongoing investigation into the illegal sales of prescription drugs in and around the Mt. Carmel area. Hammond was taken to the Wabash County Jail where the warrant was served. Hammond is being held on a $2,000 cash bond. Hammond’s husband and daughter were arrested on 10/08/2017 for their participation in the unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. Mt. Carmel Police were assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office.
