Mt. Carmel PD Make Arrests 1/14 – 1/18

01/14/2016: Mt. Carmel Police arrested Brandon Edwards, age 33, of Mt. Carmel on a Wabash County warrant.  Edwards was located at his residence on E. 2nd Street and placed into custody.  Edwards was held pending the posting of $200.00 cash.

01/15/2016: Mt. Carmel Police were notified of an underage drinking party at 1413 W. 3rd Street in Mt. Carmel.  When police arrived at the scene they spoke with 18 year old Hayley R. Hammond of Mt. Carmel.  While speaking with her officers detected an alcoholic beverage smell coming from her person.  It was also reported that a 15 year old male subject in the residence was under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested.  Trenton Hammond, age 22, of Keensburg was at the residence and stands accused of providing alcohol to the minors.  Hayley Hammond and the 15 year old were transported to the Wabash County Jail and charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor.  Trenton Hammond was charged with sale/delivery of alcohol to a minor.  Trenton Hammond was held pending the posting of $150.00 cash bond. The two minors were released after being processed

01/16/2016: Mt. Carmel Police arrested Jongmin Kim, age 22, of Mt. Carmel after he was stopped in the area of 3rd and Walnut Street.  Kim was arrested after it was discovered he was driving on a suspended license and had a Wabash County failure to appear warrant.  Kim was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was cited for driving suspended.  Kim was held pending the posting of $350.00 cash.

01/17/2016: Mt. Carmel Police were called to the 400 block of Division Street reference an unknown problem.  The complainant called police and requested “help”.  When officer’s arrived on scene they spoke with 24 year old Charlene M. Read of Mt. Carmel.  According to the police report, Read was suspected to be under the influence.   A male subject identified as Timothy A. Berberich, age 35, of Mt. Carmel was also located in the residence and was found to be in possession of suspected synthetic cannabis.  Two minor children were found in the home and under the care of Read.  Police took the two children into protective custody.  Berberich and Read were both transported to the Wabash General Hospital for observation.  Upon their release Berberich and Read were arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail.  Berberich was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.  Read was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the lift or health of a child.  Both subjects were later released after posting bond.

Mt. Carmel Police returned to the residence on 01/18/2016 with Illinois DCFS.  While at the residence Berberich returned to the residence through a back door.  The arresting officer noted that Berberich walked into the residence with more synthetic cannabis in his hand and a smoking device.  Berberich was once again arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.  Berberich is being held in the Wabash County Jail pending the posting of bond.

Mt. Carmel Police served a Edwards County failure to appear warrant on Jame B. Perry, age 26, of Mt. Carmel.  Police reported seeing Perry operating a motor vehicle and knew he was wanted on the warrant.  Perry was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of bond.
