The following subjects were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
07/17/2016-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 51 year old Twania J. Rayborn of Mt. Carmel after they received a report that battered her boyfriend at 213 Elm Street in Mt. Carmel. Rayborn was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she is being held pending the posting of bond.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 28 year old Samuel Diaz Gonzalez of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana after he was stopped for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop it was discovered that Gonzalez was operating the motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. Gonzalez was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was later released after posting bond.
07/15/2016-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 57 year old Jennifer A. Rhinehart of Mt. Carmel after she was stopped for a traffic violation. The arresting officer reported smelling alcohol on the person of Rhinehart and requested she submit to field sobriety testing. Rhinehart was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI. Rhinehart was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was cited for DUI and improper lane usage. Rhinehart was later released after posting bond.
07/14/2016-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 32 year old Emily C. Hanlon of Mt. Carmel. Hanlon was arrested on a Wabash County warrant for possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine. The warrant was obtained after an investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine was conducted by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. Hanlon was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she is being held on a $4,000.00 cash bond.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 24 year old Alex K. Sparks of Mt. Carmel after he was accused of burglary to a motor vehicle and burglary to real property. Mt. Carmel Police were called to the area of E. 11th Street in Mt. Carmel reference a male subject inside of a garage. When MCPD Officer’s arrived on scene they found Sparks inside of a garage hiding underneath a boat. Sparks attempted to flee after being detained by authorities but was caught. Sparks is charged with burglary, burglary to a motor vehicle, and escape from a peace officer. Sparks is currently being held in the Wabash County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond.
07/12/2016-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 35 year old Shawn Swift of Mt. Carmel after he was observed riding his bicycle in the area of 2nd and Belmont Street. The arresting officer knew Swift was wanted on a Lawrence County failure to appear warrant. Swift was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending extradition to Lawrence County.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 29 year old Brittny M. Byrns of Mt. Carmel after she was observed walking in the area of 2nd Street and Cedar Street. The arresting officer knew Byrns was wanted on a Wabash County failure to appear warrant. Byrns was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was served the warrant and held pending the posting of $200.00 cash.
