The following subjects were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
10/06/2016-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 31 year old Shannon D. Swatsley of Mt. Carmel after conducting a traffic stop last Thursday. The arresting officer reported seeing a 1998 Dodge truck traveling east bound on E. 5th Street near the Wabash River. The officer reported the vehicle was in the operating in the wrong lane of traffic. The arresting officer reported that he initiated his vehicle’s emergency lights but the vehicle accelerated and continued driving. The arresting officer found the vehicle parked in the lawn of another person’s yard. The arresting officer made contact with Swatsley and determined she was the driver of the vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle was a protected person on an order of protection and Swatsley was the respondent. Swatsley was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and she was charged with violation of an order of protection. Swatsley was held pending the posting of bond.
10/07/2016-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 26 year old Olivia R. Babcock of Mt. Carmel after she was stopped for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop it was discovered that she was wanted on a Wabash County warrant charging her with deceptive practice. Babcock was arrested and able to post bond.
10/08/2016-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 19 year old Ashley N. Sisk of Mt. Carmel after she was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Police were called to a disturbance in the 300 block of W. 10th Street and found Sisk in the area. Sisk was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was processed by the jail staff and later released.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 38 year old Fernando A. Martinez of Mt. Carmel after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Route 1. During the stop it was discovered that the registration on the 2004 Ford did not belong on that vehicle. It was also discovered that Martinez did not have a driver’s license. Martinez was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was cited for unlawful display of registration and for not having a valid driver’s license. Martinez was held pending the posting of $150.00
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 35 year old Wendy M. McKendree of Mt. Carmel after the vehicle she was a passenger in was stopped by the Mt. Carmel Police. During the traffic stop it was discovered that she was wanted on a Wabash County warrant from 2014. McKendree was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was held pending the posting of $200.00 cash bond.
10/09/2016-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 23 year old Ryan C. Turner of Hammond, Indiana after police responded to a fight in the 1000 block of Plum Street. When police arrived on scene they located Turner and discovered that he was wanted on a Wabash County failure to appear warrant. Turner was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of $300.00.
10/10/2016-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 3 subjects after conducting a traffic stop in the 100 block of Daniel Street. Police stopped a 2013 Toyota for a registration violation and during the stop the arresting officer discovered that the driver, Beau D. Price, age 23, of Mt. Carmel was operating the vehicle on a suspended driver’s license. Price was then arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail. Two passengers were also arrested on drug charges. Police charged Travis A. Deisher, age 23, of Mt. Carmel with possession of methamphetamine after the suspected drug was found near him in the vehicle. Deisher was then transported to the Wabash County Jail. Police then arrested 23 year old Jennifer Jones of Lawrenceville after it was discovered she was wanted on a Wabash County warrant. Jones was also found to be in the possession of drug equipment and suspected methamphetamine. Jones was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was served the warrant and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. All subjects were held pending the posting of bond. Mt. Carmel Police were assisted by Wabash County Sheriff’s K-9 Roy.
