The following individuals were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
10/29/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 63 year old Dennis E. Powell, Jr. of Mt. Carmel. Powell was arrested after the arresting officer saw him operating a motor vehicle in the area of 12th and Walnut Street. The arresting officer knew Powell was wanted on a Wabash County failure to appear warrant. Powell was pulled over, arrested, and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of $200.00 cash.
10/30/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 34 year old Gavin M. Roberts of Mt. Carmel. Roberts was arrested by MCPD Officer’s after they observed him in possession of a stolen bicycle. During the arrest of Roberts police located a hypodermic syringe in the handle bars of the bicycle. Roberts was arrested and charged with possession of a hypodermic needle and theft. Roberts was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of $150.00 cash bond.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested Misty G. Roberts, age 37, of Mt. Carmel after they responded to a hit and run crash in the 600 block of W. 5th Street. A witness stated that a dark colored van struck a parked vehicle and continued without stopping. Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle by following fluids that were dripping from the vehicle. Police located the suspect vehicle and suspect at 418 Elm Street. Roberts admitted to hitting the vehicle and not stopping to report the accident. The arresting officer reported significant damage to the Roberts vehicle to include the air bags being deployed. Roberts was arrested for DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Roberts was transported to the Wabash County Jail and held pending the posting of $300.00 cash.
10/31/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 18 year old Branson R. Hall of Mt. Carmel after he was found to be in possession of an engine operated bicycle that was reported stolen. Police saw Hall with the moped and when they attempted to stop him he fled on foot. Police located Hall and placed him under arrest. Hall was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with resisting arrest, possession of a stolen vehicle, and theft. Hall is being held pending the posting of bond.
10/31/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 49 year old James D. Steger of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Police received a complaint of a drunk driver in the area of 9th and Market Street. Police caught up with Steger in the parking lot of the Shamrock Motel. The arresting officer reported an alcoholic beverage smell coming from Steger’s breath. Steger was subsequently arrested for DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and no valid driver’s license. Steger was transported to the Wabash County Jail and held pending the posting of bond.
