The Carmi-White County Baseball team defeated Hamilton County yesterday afternoon by a final score of 6-2 in the Quarterfinal Round of the IHSA 2A Regionals.
The Bulldogs fell down early as the Foxes scored 2 in the top of the 1st inning. Carmi answered with 2 in the bottom of the 1st on a 2-run RBI single by Mitchel Edwards, tying the game at 2-2.
The Bulldogs scored 2 in the 3rd inning on a bases loaded walk and hit by pitch, taking a 4-2 lead.
Merick Millhorn scored on a Hamilton County error in the bottom of the 4th inning, and Ty Hollingsworth drove in Cade Allen in the bottom of the 5th inning, extending Carmi’s lead to 6-2 as they would go on to win by that score.
Mitchel Edwards picked up the win on the mound, he pitched 5 ⅔ innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 9 strikeouts.
The Bulldogs improve to 11-12-1 on the year as they advance to the IHSA 2A Fairfield Regional Semifinals as they will face Harrisburg tomorrow night at 6:30 PM.
The Carmi-White County Softball team will face Harrisburg tonight in the Semifinal Round of the IHSA 2A Harrisburg Regional.
The Lady Bulldogs come into tonight’s game with an 11-14 record, but they have lost 5 of their last 7 games. This will be Carmi’s second matchup with Harrisburg, the Purple Lady Bulldogs defeated the Maroon Lady Bulldogs back on April 12th by a final score of 6-4.

The Carmi-White County Boys Tennis team was scheduled to host Mt. Carmel yesterday, but that match was moved to Thursday and it will now be played at Mt. Carmel.
