The McLeansboro City Council held its regular monthly meeting last night by phone due to COVID-19 concerns.
The Annual Tax Levy for the City of Mcleansboro for the fiscal year beginning May 1st, 2021 and ending April 30th 2022 was approved. The date of the fiscal year was erroneously listed as being from 2020 to 2021.
Also approved was the December pay request for the December water tower project. The elevated water tank is about 83% complete and painting is complete. Caldwell Tank’s work is 89.5% complete and MicroCom’s electrical work is 34% complete. Funds to pay the current invoices totaled $131,217.41; $49,495 to Caldwell Tank, $69.300 to MicroCom and $12,422.41 to Shawnee Professional Services.
The board approved the amendment to the Preliminary Engineering Report for the new sanitary lift station, the purpose of which is to address any deficiencies in the collection system. Shawnee was authorized to proceed with the lift station project, with services being billed at hourly rates not to exceed $41,000 to be submitted no later than February 28th, 2021. They’re attempting to get as much grant money as they can for the project as soon as possible.
The 2021 regular meeting dates for the Mcleansboro City Council were approved. Meetings will continue to be held on the second Tuesday of each month.
It was agreed to move forward with the hiring of an additional employee for the electric department. Sometime this month word will be posted internally for candidates. Even though there’s no rush to hire someone, it would be prudent to look for someone now, as it takes a long time to train them.
It was decided to table until next month’s meeting, accepting the property to be donated by Bird Dog Properties until all legal situations are resolved.
And there will be a Christmas party for the aldermen at the Fire Station at 11:30 AM this Friday. They are allowed to bring one person with them.
