Local Sports Recap – October 17, 2022

Back on Friday the Carmi-White County Bulldog football team traveled to Johnston City to face the Indians in a battle of unbeatens for the Black Diamond Conference championship. The Bulldogs fell behind 7-0 after just 3 minutes. But after two touchdown runs by Draxtyn Aud, a fumble recovery and an Isaac King touchdown run, the Bulldogs found themselves ahead 22-7 halfway through the 2nd quarter. The Indians managed to score 2 touchdowns on just 2 offensive snaps, tying the game at 22, but King would run one in from 65 yards out to give Carmi a 28-22 halftime lead. The Indians would outscore the Bulldogs 15-0 in the 2nd half, coming away with a 37-28 victory. The win gives Johnston City their 3rd straight Black Diamond Conference championships. The Bulldogs are still in a great position for the playoffs with a 7-1 record. They will host 4-4 Flora this Friday Night for Senior Night and White Out Night.
