The Carmi-White County Girls Basketball team defeated Woodlawn at home last night in their final game of the regular season, 37-35.
The Lady Bulldogs led by as many as 8 in the 3rd quarter, but Woodlawn had a chance to win it in the final seconds, and they would get an open three point shot but it would be off the mark at the buzzer.
Addi Elliott and Caroline Simmons led Carmi in scoring with 13 points each.
Jaya Smith and Torrie Rider both scored 4 points.
Ashlyn Rager scored 3 points in her final game in McDougal-Evers Gymnasium.
The Lady Bulldogs finish the regular season with an 18-9 record, and co-champs of the Black Diamond Conference. Carmi will begin postseason play on Tuesday in the Hamilton County Regional, they will face the winner of Monday’s play-in game between Flora and Hamilton County.
The Carmi-White County Boys Basketball team will host Hamilton County tonight at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium. The Bulldogs come into tonight’s game with an 11-13 record and 4-4 record in the BDC. Hamilton County is 18-6 on the year and they are 8-1 in the conference, they can clinch at least a share of the BDC championship with a win tonight.
Fans can watch and listen to tonight’s game on 97.3 FM WRUL and the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel. Varsity will tip-off at around 7:30 PM.
The Bulldogs will turn around and travel to Wayne City tomorrow for a non-conference game against the Indians. Varsity will tip-off at around 3:30 PM. Tomorrow’s game will also be streamed on WRUL Sports.
The IHSA released the Boys Basketball Sub-Sectional seeds yesterday afternoon. The Bulldogs are the 9 seed in the South Sub-Sectional of the Carterville Sectional. Carmi will either play in the Hamilton County Regional or the Anna-Jonesboro Regional. The IHSA will release the full postseason brackets this afternoon.
