Kiwanis Unveils 2019 Parade Theme; Inducts 4 New Members

The 2019 edition of the Carmi Kiwanis Club’s annual Corn Day celebration is still 7 months away.  Folks wanting to work on parade floats

 

however now have a direction. That’s what was learned at the meeting Thursday (3-7-19).

The Carmi Kiwanis Club is on it’s 97th different president in it’s 97th year of existence.  Most Kiwanis members are extremely proud of the feat, having never had to repeat a presiding officer.  This year’s leader Katelyne Wolff held a parade theme election with Thursday’s collective in attendance.  The winning theme will please fans of Disney, fairytales and fantasy.  Parade entrants have the task of theming their floats as “Once upon a Time” for the 93rd Annual Corn Days festival coming up on the second weekend in October.

The club, Carmi’s largest civic organization by membership, also grew by 4 on Thursday.  Two former members have rejoined the organization’s roster in Arlynne Stroman, a co-owner at Botsch & Associates, CPA’s and Mark Cox, a farmer and wealth management advisor for Northwestern Mutual.  First time new members inducted are Larissa Hays, First Bank branch manager and Lauren Higginson, owner of Tumble Time Fitness and Carmi Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.
