Come out and enjoy some award winning barbeque, drinks, live music, local vendors, and help support the Chamber Foundation Community Scholarship Program. This event will take place rain or shine in Downtown Effingham, IL.
Festivities begin Friday, July 28th with a Hometown Throw-Down Local BBQ competition with public tastings beginning at 5:30pm (while supplies last). If you think your BBQ is the best, visit the website https://www.effinghamjam.com/ and sign-up a team today! There will also be wine and beer available from 5pm-9pm with live music by E.S.P. from 5:30-7:30pm. A new item this year will be Schottman’s sweet corn cooked by a local farmer’s steam engine, selling from 5-8pm.
The fun continues Saturday, July 29th with a Pigs & Pancakes breakfast being served from 8-10am along with a Makin’ Bacon Fitness Challenge from 8-11am. (register at https://www.effinghamjam.com/) The Farmer’s Market will be open from 8am- Noon, the Courthouse Museum will also be open from 10am-2pm. And for the kids there will be an Arts & Crafts area, a Kid’s Power Wheels Demo Derby from 1-2pm, and a Dilly Bar eating contest at 1pm. Then at 2:00pm it’s time for them to shine. There will be a Kids-Q BBQ Competition from 2-4pm. (Sign up at https://www.effinghamjam.com.) Schottman’s sweet corn will be served from 11am-2pm and there will be live music from The Experienced to entertain everyone from noon- 3pm.
Then the BIG EVENT, “The Official BBQ Cook-off” a Kansas City BBQ Society Sanctioned Event from 12-2pm with awards being announced at 4:00pm. Total Prize Purse near $6,000! Food, Drinks, Music and BBQ! Come out and support the Chamber Foundation Community Scholarship Program!
