ISP Trooper Injured in Two Vehicle Crash

An Illinois State Trooper and two others were injured in a two vehicle crash around 6 Wednesday night in Muddy.

According to the preliminary report released by the Illinois State Police, a 2014 Chevrolet SUV, driven by Tammy A. Wilkins, 59, of Carrier Mills, was pulling onto Highway 45 in Muddy. Wilkin’s SUV entered the path of an Illinois State Police Squad car, which was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision. The name of the state trooper was not released.

Wilkins, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and then later transferred to a regional hospital. A passenger in the Wilkins SUV, 38 year old Justin W. Agin of Harrisburg was also transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

The unnamed trooper, a one year veteran of the State Police was also injured and transported to a local hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.
