IECC Board of Trustees Meeting – 07-29-2016

   Illinois Eastern Community Colleges’ Board of Trustees approved two new policies at the regular meeting Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Lincoln Trail College in Robinson.  The Board approved a policy on the Prevention of Sexual Violence in Higher Education.  This policy will ensure that IECC will meet requirements that all higher education institutions will adopt a comprehensive policy concerning sexual violence, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking consistent with Federal and State Law as stated in Public Act 99-426 Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education.  The Board also approved a policy to increase diversity in purchasing practices in compliance with Public Act 99-0462 that deals with increased participation of businesses owned by minorities, females, and persons with disabilities.

Updates to the 2016-2017 IECC Catalog were reviewed and approved for publication.

The Board approved a report on compliance with Drug Free Schools and Campus

Regulations.  The Board certified that the district has adopted and implemented a program to prevent the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees. IECC’s 2016 biennial review identified recommendations which will maintain the effectiveness of the program by regular review and update to IECC’s website to ensure the accuracy and availability of information pertinent to alcohol, drugs, treatment and resources.  The Board approved the 2016 Biennial Review Report.

The board adopted the prevailing rate of wages as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor for the counties of Crawford, Richland, Wabash and Wayne.

Two affiliation agreements were approved with Hamilton Memorial Hospital and Wabash General Hospital dealing with the Phlebotomy Program at Frontier Community College.

Two program level articulation agreements between Illinois Eastern Community Colleges and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale were approved for the Health Care Management Program and the Radiologic Sciences Program.

The Board adopted updated Emergency Response Plans for each of the four IECC colleges.  These plans are annually reviewed and updated in compliance with the Campus Security Enhancement Act of 2008.  The plans outline procedures for managing major emergencies that may threaten the health, safety, and welfare of the colleges or disrupt programs and activities.

Diedre de Gravina, was employed as a Nursing Instructor at Olney Central College/Frontier Community College, effective August 29, 2016.

Lori Barger was employed as Office Assistant at the District Office, effective July 25, 2016.

A resignation ratification was approved for Elizabeth Oliver, Director of TRIO Talent Search, effective August 17, 2016.

A resignation ratification was approved for Olivia Pipher, Office Assistant at the District Office, effective July 20, 2016.

Next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held at Olney Central College, Olney, Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at 7:00 p.m.
