IDPH Issues Fines in Third Quarter Report – Multiple Local Facilities Cited

The Illinois Department of Public Health has issued its quarterly report and found six area homes in violation of the Nursing Home Care Act.  The violations have resulted in fines ranging from $500 to $25,000.  Locally, Carmi Manor and Wabash Senior Living and Rehab both have violations.  At Carmi Manor, there were multiple findings of resident-on-resident abuse and unwanted advancements which violate according to IDPH the facility’s written policy that residents have the right to be free of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of their property and exploitation.  Carmi Manor faces a fine of $2,200.  At Wabash Senior Living and Rehab, that facility is facing a fine of $25,000 after a resident there suffered a significant medication error in which 5 additional doses of a diuretic medication were administered to a 92-year-old resident resulting in a hospital admission for an acute kidney injury.
