Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission Secures Grant Funding for Two Public Infrastructure Grants within the region

The Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) announced the recipients of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for Public Infrastructure. Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission submitted and received two grants in 2016. The grant funds are for the City of Lawrenceville and the Village of West Salem.

The City of Lawrenceville, Lawrence County, will receive $395,820 in a CDBG grant to replace water lines along 8th Street. The total project cost is $519,128. The project is an 8th Street Waterline Project, which consists of replacing old, leaking, undersized waterlines with a new 8” PVC waterline.

The Village of West Salem, Edwards County, has been awarded $398,842 as a CDBG grant to rehabilitate their Sewer lagoon and Sewer System. The total project cost is $523,092. The Village of West Salem needs to make improvements to the Sewer Treatment Facility. The removal and disposal of the sludge along with the installation of rock filters will improve the sewage treatment process.
