The Friends of the Carmi Library recently honored former mayor Jimmy Gaines with a special award for his dedication in serving the Carmi Public Library. Jimmy was instrumental in aiding the library move to its current location, helping to establish a tradition of public service at the library’s 103 Slocumb Street address. The Carmi Public Library and Friends of the Library would like to thank Mr. Gaines for his service and effort for the library and community.
