Craze Concepts: A Small Business Success

Jeri Lyn Joyner with Craze Concepts

HARRISBURG, IL (Nov. 30, 2015) After previously running the business from her home, Jeri Lyn Joyner decided she wanted to have a brick and mortar business as a florist and event planner.

Joyner first came to the Workforce & Illinois Small Business Development Center (WISBDC) at Southeastern Illinois College in October of 2014 and met with small business advisor, Todd Tracy, to discuss putting together a business and marketing plan.

Tracy met with Joyner on several occasions between January and April of 2015, working on a business plan draft so that he could complete a financial projection. He also gave direction for the best avenues for financing, as well as utilizing marketing tools. During the course of this time, Joyner was also busy studying floral design at Michael Gaffney’s Chicago School of Flower Design.

Craze Concepts opened September 1,  2015 with an open house showcasing unique floral designs, gift items, and a flower bar, which allows the customer to create their own bouquet, in the store located at 100 S. Commercial St. Suite D, Harrisburg, IL.  In addition, Joyner is also a wedding and event planner. Recently, she added online ordering to her website, making it convenient for her customers to place orders.

“Without the WISBDC, I would have been totally uninformed and would not have been able to complete my business plan,” said Joyner. “The WISBDC has access to resources that I wouldn’t have been aware of without their help.”
